Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino, the only casino in Alberta’s Rocky Mountain region, features 271 of the newest slot machines, the most popular live and electronic table games, off-track betting and a dedicated poker room. “We have plenty of things for kids to do,” says Chris Grimes, Marketing Manager. With an indoor pool and waterslide, a kid’s video game room, Telus OPTIK TV in each hotel room, and a kid’s menu in The Ridge Restaurant, Stoney Nakoda Resort ensures that both children and adults enjoy their stay.
“Other on-site attractions include tours through the mountains with Alpine Helicopters and excursions with Canadian Rockies Rafting. As of 2019 we now have a full-service travel centre on site, which features an Esso gas bar and a Tim Hortons,” adds Grimes.
He continues, “More and more people are trying to stretch their leisure dollars, and the value you receive at Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino is exceptional. At check-in all hotel guests receive a provincial scratch and win lottery ticket, and we’ve even had one guest win $10,000 on it. All hotel guests receive a complimentary hot breakfast buffet each day. We get a lot of guests driving out from Cochrane and Calgary every Friday and Saturday night for our famous prime rib and lobster buffet.
The Ridge Restaurant has recently introduced a First Nations menu so guests can enjoy traditionally prepared cuisine such as elk, buffalo, and duck. Sidelines Lounge has casual pub favourites like pizza and succulent lobster mac and cheese.
All this food and fun is enjoyed without the extra padded costs you see at some other resorts such fees for parking, WiFi, and destination marketing – which is nice considering the special location of this destination.
As Grimes points out, “A lot of people come to the Rockies to explore the outdoors and soak in all that we have to offer in our own backyard. We’ve done the negotiating with our partners and have some phenomenal package pricing available. For the out-of-town tourists, it’s a one-stop shop where they can book their accommodations and excursions (helicopter tours, white water rafting, or something they may not have considered like a photography tour) and it saves them worrying about having to find their way from a hotel to an excursion location. For the local Alberta resident, it’s a quick getaway for a night with a little adventure – without breaking the bank.”

“At Christmas we’re seeing more and more corporate bookings from Calgary for our party packages,” Grimes confirms. “Corporations see the value of having a one-stop party destination that’s sure to please, and it saves the event planner time.
